Seattle Design Festival Block Party! August 24 & 25
Updated August 13, 2019
The Northwest Universal Design Council will present an installation at the 2019 Seattle Design Festival Block Party. The Block Party will take place Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lake Union Park (860 Terry Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109).
The installation is entitled Doorway to Inclusion and Independence. It will feature a life-size model of a house front door, with accessibility features that show off a “visitable” approach to design. The installation will also feature hands-on demonstrations of household products that are designed for accessibility and incorporate elements of universal design. The products will be provided by the Washington Assistive Technology Act Program (WATAP).
The Block Party is part of the 2019 Seattle Design Festival, which features citywide tours, exhibits, outdoor installations, activities, neighborhood design crawls and more from August 16 – 25. The Block Party is a two-day street fair celebrating the ways design affects our lives. This event is an opportunity for the design community and the public to come together and interact through large-scale design installations and design activities all centered around the Festival’s 2019 theme, BALANCE. The Block Party is presented by Design in Public, a strategic initiative of AIA Seattle, in collaboration with dozens of community organizations. More information about the Seattle Design Festival is available at designinpublic.org.
The Northwest Universal Design Council and WATAP encourage everyone to participate. For accommodations or accessibility information, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
