“What If Buildings Were Designed for Everyone?” – 2024 Seattle Design Festival

For our second year, we collaborated with Jensen Hughes, WA Assistive Technologies Act Program, and Age Friendly Seattle to feature an installation at the Seattle Design Festival. This year, our demonstration was called “What If Buildings Were Designed for Everyone?” and featured an interactive game for participants to experience the importance of universal design. Festivalgoers were invited to step into the shoes of several characters, each with unique accessibility needs, and travel through different types of spaces. In space—a home, a school, and a transit hub—participants were asked to identify which design elements helped or hindered their experience.

More than 500 people stopped by to play and learn. Huge thanks to the many volunteers that made this weekend a success—we couldn’t have done it without you!
